Demonoid 2.0

 

Demonoid 2.0 is a warbot. It essentially can flip, lift and damage the competitor’s bot with ease. With the 2 layer design all the essential components of the bot are secured with 2 layers making it impossible for a competitor’s bot to damage any of them, My team and I used Wiper motors (which we salvaged off old trucks) for the flipper and a starter motor coupled with a spinning machined component to deal damage.

What started with the aim of making a warbot, has opened up many learnings like motor specifications, ways to transmit power, various materials & their properties, assembly & fabrication methods, design,etc in the process.

The way we fabricated the bot for precision, the assembly was not exactly a smooth affair. The main challenge in this build was to transmit power from the starter motor to the cutter in the front. After a lot of review and calculations, the chain and sprocket mechanism seemed to be the best option. The metal to be used in the cutter had to be both light and strong for this, we chose aluminium and used mild steel for every other component.
